Tequila Don Julio was founded by Don Julio González in the Highlands of Jalisco. His pioneering vision redefined tequila, focusing on quality over quantity. Today, we still honor his legacy by crafting tequila with the utmost craft and dedication to quality.
In 1942, Don Julio González decided to establish his roots in Atotonilco El Alto, Mexico where he acquired his Distillery “La Primavera”. Today, the iconic Don Julio 1942 Tequila is handcrafted in tribute to the year that Don Julio González began his tequila-making journey.
Don Julio González was visionary, progressive and had a relentless pursuit of perfection for his craft. He balanced heritage and tradition with innovation to realize his dreams of making the finest Tequilas. His ideas and techniques have been passed down and honored through generations. Often imitated, never duplicated since 1942.
Tequila Don Julio is produced in the legendary highlands’ region of Jalisco where the majority of our agave is grown and where the volcanic soil, cool nights and warm days nurture the finest agave.

Don Julio González began his tequila making journey in 1942 in the Highlands of Jalisco. His pioneering vision redefined tequila, focusing on quality over quantity. Today, we still honor his legacy:
Using only 100% Blue Weber Agave, carefully cultivated for approximately 5-7 years in Jalisco’s rich clay soil.
Using a slow cooking process in masonry ovens, fermentation with a, unique yeast strain, and double distillation in pot stills.
Aging beyond the minimum industry requirements in ex-bourbon American white oak barrels to achieve extraordinary flavor.

Tequila Don Julio Blanco is the soul and basis of our portfolio. It is made from three ingredients: water, a unique yeast strain, and 100% Blue Weber Agave.

Tequila Don Julio Blanco – Tequila Don Julio Blanco is the soul and basis of our portfolio. It is made from three ingredients: water, a unique yeast strain, and 100% Blue Weber Agave. Commonly referred to as “silver” tequila, its crisp agave flavor and hints of citrus make it an essential component to a variety of innovative drinks including margaritas. It can also be enjoyed neat or on the rocks.
Tequila Don Julio Reposado – With a mellow, elegant flavor and inviting aroma, Tequila Don Julio Reposado is best savored as part of a classic cocktail such as a paloma, margarita, old fashioned or chilled on the rocks.
Tequila Don Julio Añejo – Tequila Don Julio Añejo is a testament to the craft of making a superior tasting, aged tequila. Rich, distinctive and wonderfully complex, its flavor strikes the perfect balance between agave, wood and hints of vanilla. Best experienced in elevated cocktails such as an old fashioned, negroni or manhattan but can also be sipped neat in a snifter or simply on the rocks.
Tequila Don Julio 70 Añejo Cristalino –Tequila Don Julio 70 Añejo Cristalino embodies the rich complexity of a traditional Añejo in a liquid that is twice distilled and aged to perfection for +15 months in American white oak barrels, then carefully charcoal filtered to restore the crisp agave taste found in Blanco Tequila. This expression is complex and can be enjoyed in classic cocktails including a martini, as well as neat or on the rocks.

Each agave harvested for Tequila Don Julio not only meets the Tequila regulatory standards but is also carefully selected under Diageo’s quality criteria to ensure optimal balance of maturity and natural sugars.
Tequila Don Julio sources its 100% Blue Weber Agave both from our own fields and from certified third-party growers within the Tequila Denomination of Origin. Regardless of origin, every agave entering our distilleries must be fully traceable and documented under strict controls established by the Consejo Regulador del Tequila (CRT), the official regulatory body overseeing the category.
